5 Ways CBD Can Help Treat Your Acne

Do you struggle with acne? You’re not alone. Luckily, CBD, or cannabidiol, may just be here to help! CBD skincare has been increasing in use over the last few years. Read below for 5 ways to treat your acne with CBD.

Apply a topical CBD oil as a spot treatment before going to bed, after cleansing and moisturizing your skin

CBD oil works for some acne-prone people as a topical spot treatment, but you’ll want to test it out first to make sure your skin doesn’t have a reaction to the serum.

The best serums for acne treatment are the ones created specifically for skincare. Check out this article for a selection of CBD skin care products.

At night, after washing and moisturizing your face, take the smallest possible amount of CBD serum and apply it to a small acne-prone area of your skin. Ideally, the components of the CBD will act as an anti-inflammatory agent, reducing swelling and redness of the affected area.

This likely won’t be an overnight cure, however. You’ll want to try this process every day for 30 days– stopping use if you experience a reaction– to determine whether this spot treatment is right for you.

Use a CBD facial moisturizer for all-over acne reduction

There are plenty of CBD skin care products on the market, and this includes facial and body moisturizers. This article lists a great selection of both body lotions and facial lotions that contain CBD.

The idea behind using a CBD-infused moisturizer is the same as above; CBD reduces inflammation, which will reduce the appearance of redness and swelling wherever acne appears.

The difference between this method and the spot treatment listed above, is that the moisturizer trick provides an all-over, daily preventative routine. Many women have found that applying a CBD-infused moisturizer yields an overall reduction in acne breakouts over time.

Use a CBD facial cleanser

Again, if you want overall acne prevention built into your daily routine, try a CBD facial cleanser!

You can even use this tip in conjunction with CBD moisturizer for a doubling-down on the anti-inflammatory effect. Again, CBD has differing effects from person to person, so be sure to take at least 30 days to observe the results you're getting.

Use CBD tinctures to reduce stress

It’s a well-known fact that stress causes acne. How does this work? Stress causes your body to release cortisol, the stress hormone. Cortisol, in turn, promotes sebum production. Sebum is the natural oil that your skin constantly produces; but, when produced in overdrive, sebum can clog pores and cause breakouts.

Luckily, CBD tinctures– which are CBD oils in an ingestible form, placed under your tongue with a dropper– have been proven to reduce stress and to increase sleep quality– two vital benefits when it comes to preventing breakouts. You may want to take a few drops of CBD tincture every day for overall stress reduction. Or, try taking CBD at night for better sleep quality.

Take CBD capsules or gummies to reduce sebum production

If you don’t like the taste of CBD tinctures, CBD capsules or even CBD gummies may work for you. The idea behind the capsule or the gummy is the same as the tincture; CBD reduces overall stress, which reduces cortisol and sebum production.

Nobody enjoys struggling with acne, and many of us have tried most of our lives to find a cure. Luckily, many people tout CBD as a miracle cure for their frustrating breakouts. Although we're all different and experience different results, the growing body of science behind this little endocannabinoid might just mean that your acne has met its match.
