Sunscreen needs no introduction. It's imperative that we make it a part of our skincare routines but be sure to look for non-toxic sunscreens. All you have to do is check for the right ingredients and stay away from the bad ones.
Just like your other personal care products, sunscreen can contain hormone-disrupting chemicals along with other harmful compounds.
Sunscreen ingredients to avoid:
- Vitamin A (retinyl palmitate)
- Added insect repellent
Sunscreen products you want to avoid:
- Aerosol sprays
- SPF above 50
Non-toxic sunscreen ingredients to look for:
- Zinc oxide
- Titanium oxide
Non-toxic sunscreen products to look for:
- Cream-based or sprays that use a bag method
- SPF that works for you (15-50)
